‘Skimming off the Top’?

Posted by on 15 February 2012 | 0 Comments

Having your grease skimmed in your restuarant can be a smart practice that extends the life of your Kitchen Grease and oil. But when you are buying 100000 pounds of Vegetable Oil every month for your chain of stores, and your wvo (waste vegetable oil) Reclamation company is only paying you for 60000 pounds of oil pumped, you have got to start wondering. Do the math, are your French fries and chicken fingers really absorbing that 40,000 lbs of grease per month, or are you being underpaid by your Grease Guy? Times are lean in the restaurant industry. Can you afford to lose tens of thousands of dollars a month because your grease guy is a bit on the ‘oily side’?

Are diesel engines now viable?

Let me answer that question with another question. Just how high will gas prices get this year? Predictions vary wildly, but some analyst have predicted a 4.00 per gallon price by this spring, and as high as 6.50 this summer. Its hard to imagine prices can climb that high. But the higher the price of conventional gasoline the more viable alternatives become, alternatives such as ethanol, and of course diesel.

What happens if I don't have my Grease Trap serviced?

Neglecting your  grease trap will result in costly repairs, the sludge and FOG from WVO may backup into the building and prevent the grease trap from passing anything through to the sewer system or allow grease to flow into the public sewer system. The end result will be service calls to clean lines and fines from public utilities systems.   The public utilities systems inspectors can shut your business down and that is something you will surely want to avoid.

What is a grease Trap

Posted by John A Grindle on 26 January 2012 | 0 Comments

A grease trap is a Containment system specifically Engineered to prevent F.O.G. (fats, oils, grease) from being introduced to sewer system. A grease  trap has Specially designed walls to keep most of the F.O.G. in one side of tank, and then has pipe baffles to keep F.O.G. from escaping the tank, or coming back into restaurant. If the F.O.G. were to enter the sewer system it could do permenant damage to the pumps, sewer mains, and to equipment used to treat other waste in the system. All restaurants are required by law  to have a grease trap installed. Typically there are two different types of Grease Traps Large in ground tanks placed outside, or small Grease Trap tanks inside building usually underneath a counter or sink. Keeping your grease trap serviced is crucial. Here at Hulsey Environmental we ensure the stability of your grease traps with top notch service. The pumping schedule is typically determined by volume of F.O.G. produced and is generally regulated by law.
